New Board Member Strengthens BSI’s Understanding of SMEs

BSI Group today announced the appointment of Norman Price OBE as a non-executive board member.

Mr Price has an impressive résumé with extensive industrial and investment experience. He is the current chairman of Bede Plc, a leader in the design and manufacture of specialist X-ray metrology instruments for the semi conductor industry. He is also chairman of Leslie Group, a non-ferrous stamping company and of ECO-LOGIC, a start-up company in electronic controls.

Mr Price serves as a deputy chairman of Advantage West Midlands, the West Midlands Regional Development Agency and is a senior industrialist in the Department of Trade and Industry specialising in finance and investment, particularly for growing businesses.

Mr Price is also a member of the Confederation of British Industry, SME and West Midlands Councils and has chaired their working party on high technology growth businesses. He is a vice president of the Engineering Employers Federation, and a member of its economic policy group.

Sir David John, chairman of the BSI Group says of the appointment: "We believe that Norman’s considerable experience in manufacturing and investment, especially in the SME businesses arena, will make a valuable contribution to the balance of the BSI Group board. We are delighted that he has joined us."

Norman Price is British and 60 years old. He was educated at Imperial College London, the University of Aston and the London Business School. He spent his early career with the TI Group plc and subsequently at British Steel plc becoming the managing director of a British Steel subsidiary. He then became Group Executive Director of Triplex Lloyd plc.
